Fitness for the over 50’s
Keeping active is essential after 50 not only to keep the body moving but also to keep the mind running smoothly. It doesn’t always mean running a marathon (in fact that can sometimes cause more damage than help) but it does mean enjoying a more active life doing the things you enjoy. Walking is one of the best exercises there is whether you go on your own, with families members or the Ramblers Association.
You don’t need to join a gym but many people do and sometimes your local gym will have discount days or special times for older people so you don’t have to feel intimidated by that young champion boxer who has just joined. Many exercises can be done in the comfort of your own home. There are is a massive variety of exercise bikes available form the small, pedal only variety to the full on large scale which connect to your phone and you can pretend you are cycling across virtual terrain.
